Day 252 – Waiting

So I am waiting. Waiting for a car to pick me up. In the mean time, I am answering emails that have been in my inbox for way too long. I am making myself some fresh Saturday morning coffee and I am reading a book. It’s about a Swedish guy and a Somalian woman. Interesting, but definitely a bit confusing. Especially the part about this guy’s childhood and going to school with the crown prince of Sweden. Anyways, I am waiting.

That got me thinking. What do you do while waiting? Do you just sit around and do nothing? I tend to always want to be productive somehow. Waiting makes me sleepy though. When I had to wait for trains and buses back in the student days I got into the habit of saying simple prayers for the people waiting alongside me. I would have no clue who they would be, but would just simply ask for God to be with them during the day.

How you approach waiting, tells me a lot about character. Are you grumpy and are you letting it ruin your day? Or do you take the time that you have been given and use it wisely?

It’s up to you. You have a choice on what to do with mundane time. Go and make the most out of it, would be my advice. Even if that means simply taking that extra nap. Those are very productive in my opinion.

Just in case you have absolutely nothing to do. Read this bit from Dr. Suess’ book ‘Oh the places you’ll go’. I like it. We made a video out of it with my graduating class at University College back in 2014. That was so much fun. So enjoy. And good luck with the waiting.

The Waiting Place…

…for people just waiting.In ca
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.

Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

That’s not for you!

Somehow you’ll escape
all that waiting and staying.
You’ll find the bright places
where the Boom Bands are playing.

With banner flip-flapping,
once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.
Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

Oh, the places you’ll go!
