Day 361 – Midway point

I still remember the first week I was here in Uganda. Hosted by a wonderful family. Felt at home pretty quickly. Sat on the same couch as I am sitting on now to eat my first home-cooked meal. 6 months in Uganda already. Halfway through my year as trainee PGA with ZOA. Time flies. It really does.

After 2,5 days filled with travels upcountry and back down, I am a little exhausted. But also pretty happy and satisfied. Already looking forward to going to bed early today.

I seem to be going back and forth these days. Between happy, sad, stressed, tired, energetic, alive, and you name it. I guess I shouldn’t complain. Because this was exactly one of the reasons I decided to come to Uganda. I loved my life in the comfortable safety of the city I knew, with people I knew, in a job that felt comfortable quickly. But that was just the point. It wasn’t really as challenging as I wanted my life to be halfway being 24.

So here I am. Exactly 6 months after I arrived in this new country which will very likely be my home for a while. The sun is just setting. The mosque calling for evening prayers. The city lights of Kampala are lighting up. The midway point has been reached. This blog is almost ending. But somewhere deep down I feel like I have started living a chapter of my life that has only just started.
